Explore Kelham Island

Its industrial history has been swapped for something altogether more modern and vibrant making Kelham Island the new place to go for a night out in Sheffield.

How to get there by public transport?

Kelham Island is just a short walk from Shalesmoor tram stop, which is served by both the yellow and blue routes. If you’re travelling by bus lots of services will take you there: 7, 8, 8a, 35, 57, 81, 82, , 86 and 135/135a.  Find the best option for you on our journey planner.

Alternatively, Kelham Island is just a 10-minute walk from the city centre.

What is the best thing about the place/attraction?

The old warehouses and factories still line the streets giving it a proper feeling of Sheffield’s famous heritage. Some of the restaurants and bars are independently owned so there’s always something new to try rather than the familiar names you find in the city centre.

When is the best time to visit?

It’s a great place all year round, but we’d recommend going in the summer so you can take advantage of the beer gardens!

Facilities available?

There are cafes, restaurants and bars to cater for everyone. If you’re out celebrating a special occasion visit to the Milestone. Alternatively, if you’re looking to grab a bite to eat and a few drinks, head for a handmade pizza at Craft & Dough before moving onto the Fat Cat or Inc (a rooftop bar).

Don’t forget there’s also Kelham Island Museum for a great family day out.

Accessibility?

All pathways are accessible to wheelchair users.

If you go there, don’t miss…

Inc. Located on the roof of Krynkl - which is built out of old shipping containers - Inc is something completely different for Sheffield and is a great place to hang out with friends in the summer.
