Hope Valley Xplore

To increase travel confidence, broaden horizons and showcase one of the great destinations on our local rail network we took a group of teenagers on their first train journey out to Grindleford in the Peak District National Park.

The group enjoyed a range of activities including a guided nature walk and drystone wall building, courtesy of park rangers. The British Transport Police (BTP) also joined rail colleagues to engage with the young people on themes such as rail safety, journey planning and careers.

This pilot was developed by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, the Hope Valley & High Peak Community Rail Partnership and Endeavour, with support from Northern, BTP, the Peak District National Park and East Midlands Rail and will form a template for a programme of future events.
