Under 16 Education Season Ticket - Annual (Northern and Transpennine)
If you travel by train to a school in South Yorkshire and are aged under 16, an Education Season Ticket may be the best option for you.
Available to children attending participating schools, this ticket gives unlimited annual train travel on Northern and Transpennine Express trains between two chosen stations at a 50% discount off the price of standard child ticket.
Note that price varies depending on the chosen route.

- You can also purchase tickets at the station (details of how to do this at the Northern Website, but the discount will be lower than if purchasing online.
Full ticket information
If their school is registered to participate, an Education Season Ticket gives children aged under 16 annual unlimited rail travel on Northern and Transpennine Express trains between two chosen stations at a discount of 50% off the standard child price.
You can view a full list of participating schools and routes on the Northern Website. If your school is not on the list, then you can contact Northern for further information.
A photo ID is required in addition to the ticket to ensure that it is valid and being used correctly and will need to be presented with every use of the ticket. Smartcards
New or replacement smartcards will be subject to a £1.00 charge, except concessionary passes such as the Zoom Under 16, Zoom 16-18, Zoom Beyond 18-21 and Zoom Zero Travel Passes, and ENCTS passes where the £7 replacement fee applies.
Please remember to re-use your smartcard in the future to avoid any additional charges.
