Rock Up & Ride: City Centre cycle event- 17th July 2024

As city centre cycle racing returns for the 2024 Sheffield Grand Prix, we’re opening the course before racing starts to give everyone the chance to cycle the outdoor city, traffic free.

Rock up & ride, scoot or wheel your way round the pro-circuit with Olympic champion and South Yorkshire’s Active Travel Commissioner, Ed Clancy OBE.

See the circuit from the saddle, take in the steel city and give pedal power a go – it’s free, fun and perfect for the whole family.

Rock Up & Ride is made possible by event partners, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Grand Prix, British Cycling and Giant Sheffield.

It’s hoped the event will inspire more people to get active and consider choosing cycling, scooting or wheeling for shorter journeys.

Get going
Starting at Union Street, the Rock Up & Ride event covers the same 1.4km route as the Sheffield Grand Prix. Riders are invited to cycle, scoot or wheel the course as many – or as few – times as they wish, and at their own pace.
To ride, register from 4:30pm at the Giant Sheffield Gazebo, outside the Town Hall. The Sheffield Grand Prix circuit will be open to the public from 5-5:30pm, Wednesday, 17th July 2024. Circuit capacity is limited to the first 100 registered riders.

You will need a roadworthy bike and all participants must wear a helmet. Youngsters must be accompanied by an adult.

No bike? No problem. Give cycling a go with a limited number of hire bikes and helmets from Giant Sheffield (available at the Giant gazebo – you will need photo ID and a bank card for hire).
