Parkgate Link Road, Park & Ride and Taylors Lane roundabout

A major scheme to build new vehicular, walking and cycling infrastructure to improve transport connections across South Yorkshire has begun at Parkgate, Rotherham.

The £12 million investment at Parkgate includes a new link road, footway and cycleway from Aldwarke Lane into Parkgate Shopping (Stadium Way); highway improvements at Taylors Lane roundabout; and a new 300-space Park & Ride facility for the Parkgate Tram Train terminus, including electric vehicle bays.

Construction of the Parkgate scheme is expected to be open for use in January 2024.

We asked for people's views to help shape our proposals for the Parkgate Link Road, Park & Ride and Taylors Lane roundabout scheme in a public consultation held between Monday 15 March and Friday 16 April 2021. Feedback from the consultation helped to develop our full planning application for the Scheme, which was submitted in October 2021 and approved with conditions on 12 August 2022 by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
