Getting to Tramlines

Updated on Thursday 22 July to include information about evening trams not running

Please note that trams will be running differently over Tramlines weekend, and evening services will not run. For the latest information, visit Supertram's website

The Tramlines Festival takes over Hillsborough Park for one July weekend each year.

It’s within easy reach by public transport from Sheffield city centre, with services taking you just a short walk away from the festival ground.

This information page is to help you find your way to the festival using public transport services and how best to make your way home. Our best tips are that you plan your travel and get your tickets in advance wherever possible.

For more information about the Tramlines festival this year visit the Tramlines website.

By Tram

You can access a tram network map in our Public Transport Maps section.

You can catch Yellow Route services at places like Middlewood Park & Ride, Meadowhall and The Cathedral, alongside many other stops. Services operate up to every 10-12 minutes throughout the day on Fridays and Saturdays and up to every 20 minutes on Sundays and at other times.

Blue Route

You can reach Tramlines by alighting Blue Route services at the Hillsborough stop, where the Middlewood Road entrance is only a short walk away.

You can catch Blue Route services at places like Malin Bridge Park & Ride, Halfway Park & Ride, Sheffield Railway Station and The Cathedral, alongside many other stops. Services operate up to every 15 minutes through the day and up to every 20 minutes at other times.

Tram Train

If you’re reaching Sheffield by Tram Train, be sure to alight at Meadowhall South / Tinsley and change to a Yellow Route service towards Middlewood.

By Train

Sheffield is easily accessible from across the country by train. If you arrive at Sheffield Station, then change to a Blue Route tram service towards Malin Bridge.

By Bus

The best way to get to Tramlines is by tram. However, there are several bus services to the Tramlines Festival main venue in Hillsborough Park. From Sheffield City Centre, you can catch a number of services to the festival ground. You can plan your journey and see which stops to use on our journey planner.

Getting home from the Festival

Trams won’t be serving the area after 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and 8pm on Sunday, instead terminating at Shalesmoor. You can find tram information here.

Buses will be available, as detailed below, and you’ll be able to use return tram tickets on these services. However, buses are likely to be very busy so it’s a good idea to plan ahead or make alternative arrangements.

If you’re walking from Hillsborough Park to make your onward journey, you’ll be able to connect with buses, trams and trains in the city centre. Why not continue the fun by popping into places along the route, such as Kelham Island?

Alternatively, you could use taxis and private hire vehicles to get you home. Whatever you choose to do it’s best to have a plan, and please remember to travel safely.
