Transforming Travel in South Yorkshire

We are taking steps to transform South Yorkshire’s transport infrastructure.  In 2020, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority was awarded £166 million from the Transforming Cities Fund to improve public transport, walking and cycling infrastructure across the county.

We’re working on proposals for a range of projects which invest in better, greener travel options for people to get around South Yorkshire.  Together with your council and local bus, tram and train companies, we are implementing schemes that will encourage active travel, reduce journey times, cut congestion and improve air quality.

During 2021, we shared information about the Transforming Cities Fund schemes we were working on and asked for your views to help shape our proposals. These proposals have now been developed, and some schemes have already started construction works.
