Zero Fare Pass

A Zero Fare Pass provides free travel within South Yorkshire between home and school.

If your child is in full-time education, lives in South Yorkshire, and travels over three miles from home to get to school, he or she may qualify for a Zero Fare Pass, paid for by your local authority.
If your child is under eight years old and has to travel over two miles from home to get to school, he or she may also qualify for a Zero Fare Pass.

A Zero Fare Pass is valid for free travel Mondays to Fridays until 7pm on the days when your school is open (term time only).

If the school is outside South Yorkshire, the pass will only be valid as far as the county boundary.

If you don’t qualify for a free Zero Fare Pass through your local authority, you can buy one yourself and pay by monthly instalments.

If your child has lost his or her pass, there are three ways you can order a replacement:

1) By phone using your credit or debit card (0114 221 1419)*

2) By visiting any of the main Information Centres (not mini-interchanges)

3) By cheque or postal order (made payable to SYPTE)**

All replacements cost £7.00 and will be posted to your home address by First Class post.

*Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

**Cheques should be sent to the following address: Zero Fares, South Yorskhire Passenger Transport Executive, 11 Broad Street West, Sheffield, S1 2BQ.  You should also include a note stating your child's name, address and school they are attending.  We are sorry we cannot accept cheques in any of our Information Centres. 

The code of conduct is a condition of use for a Zero Fare Pass. Non-compliance with this code may result in the withdrawal of the pass and payment of the full adult fare.
