Encouraging young people like you to use public transport is very important to Travel South Yorkshire, so this is what we can offer you...
If you are 11-16 and living in South Yorkshire you can have a MegaTravel Card which means:
For details of this scheme please contact Barnsley Council on 01226 775656 or visit the website at www.barnsley.gov.uk/micard .
From August 2012, young people up to the age of 18 who live in Barnsley will no longer be entitled to free bus travel within the borough. Under the new arrangements, there will now be a 30 pence fare for every bus journey you make within Barnsley or between Barnsley and the rest of South Yorkshire. However, time restrictions that previously applied to the use of the card have now been lifted, which means that the card can be used at any time and every day, including weekends. Please see the Barnsley Council website for more details.
If you are in education full time, and live more than 3 miles from where you study, you may be entitled to a Zero Fare Pass which gives you free travel on school days on bus, train and tram all day until 1900. Only on journeys between home and school. Read the full information for the Zero Fare Pass on the Travel South Yorkshire website.
