Behaviour and Safety

  • Travelling alone?

If you're travelling on your own, make sure you let people know when you leave and when you arrive.

    Be sensible

Be sensible when you’re waiting for the bus, you might put people off using the bus if you’re messing around.

    Good manners

Show the driver your respect and gratitude, it’s a tough job, and manners don’t cost money!

    Be considerate

It’s not a mobile disco, keep your music to yourself with headphones, and keep the volume down. Offer your seat to other people if the bus gets full, some people really need to sit down to be safe.

    Valuables

Keep your valuables out of sight (Mobile, mp3 player, jewellery) they can be a target for thieves.

    Don't litter

Treat the bus with respect, don’t leave litter, don’t put your feet on the seats, and don’t damage things.

    If there's a problem

If someone is making you feel scared or upset, try to sit near the driver, or tell a conductor.

    Press the bell

Only press the bell when you need to get off, or if there’s an emergency. Ringing it constantly is annoying, and could get you kicked off the bus.

    Stay seated

Stay seated until the bus stops, especially if you’re on the top deck. If you’re standing, face the front and hold on tight, it’s the best way to stay upright.

    Crossing the road

Don’t try and cross the road near a bus that’s stopped, let it drive away or walk until you get a clear view of the road.
