    Middlewood Road in Hillsborough will be temporarily one way with the road closed to traffic travelling from Dixon Road towards Bradfield Road for tram track replacement from Tuesday 23 April to Sunday 26 May 2019.

    Services 31, 31b, 35, 38, 38a, 52a, 57, 57a, 62, 97, 98, 135, 135a and 268 will be diverted in Hillsborough.

    Services 31 and 31b from City Centre towards Loxley will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Loxley towards City Centre will be diverted between Wisewood and Hillsborough and will run along Rodney Hill, Ben Lane, Hallowmoor Road, Wisewood Lane, Loxley Road, Loxley New Road, Holme Way, Holme Lane and Langsett Road.

    Service 35 from City Centre and Hillsborough towards Meadowhall will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Meadowhall towards Hillsborough and City Centre will be diverted between Wadsley Bridge and Hillsborough and will run along Penistone Road North, Penistone Road, Owlerton Green, Bradfield Road and Langsett Road.

    Services 38 and 38a from Meadowhall and Firth Park towards Hillsborough will be diverted in Hillsborough and will run along Herries Road, Penistone Road, Owlerton Green, Bradfield Road and Langsett Road; buses back from Hillsborough towards Firth Park and Meadowhall will be able to run along the normal route.

    Service 52a from Woodhouse and City Centre towards Wisewood will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Wisewood towards City Centre and Woodhouse will be diverted between Wisewood and Hillsborough and will run along Wisewood Road, Wisewood Lane, Loxley Road, Loxley New Road, Holme Way, Holme Lane and Langsett Road.

    Service 57 from City Centre towards Oughtibridge and Stocksbridge will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Stocksbridge and Oughtibridge will be diverted between Wadsley and Hillsborough and will run along Worrall Road, Wadsley Lane, Leppings Lane, Catch Bar Lane, Parkside Road, Penistone Road, Owlerton Green, Bradfield Road and Langsett Road.

    Service 57a from Hillsborough towards Oughtibridge and Worrall will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Oughtibridge and Worrall towards Hillsborough will be diverted between Wadsley and Hillsborough and will run along Worrall Road, Wadsley Lane, Leppings Lane, Catch Bar Lane, Parkside Road, Penistone Road, Owlerton Green, Bradfield Road and Langsett Road.

    Service 61 from Hillsborough towards Bradfield (via Loxley) and back to Hillsborough (via Dungworth) will be able to run along the normal route.

    Service 62 from Hillsborough towards Bradfield (via Dungworth) will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Bradfield towards Hillsborough (via Loxley) will be diverted between Wisewood and Hillsborough and will run along Rodney Hill, Ben Lane, Hallowmoor Road, Wisewood Lane, Loxley Road, Loxley New Road, Holme Way, Holme Lane and Langsett Road.

    Service 135 from City Centre towards High Green and Rotherham will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Rotherham and High Green towards City Centre will be diverted between Wadsley Bridge and Hillsborough and will run along Penistone Road North, Penistone Road, Owlerton Green, Bradfield Road and Langsett Road; buses back from Hillsborough towards City Centre and Totley will be able to run along the normal route.

    Service 135a from City Centre and Hillsborough towards High Green and Rotherham will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Rotherham and High Green towards Hillsborough and City Centre will be diverted between Wadsley Bridge and Hillsborough and will run along Penistone Road North, Penistone Road, Owlerton Green, Bradfield Road and Langsett Road; buses back from Hillsborough towards City Centre and Totley will be able to run along the normal route.

    Service 268 from Hillsborough towards Wadsley Park and Wharncliffe Side will be able to run along the normal route; buses back from Wharncliffe Side and Wadsley Park towards Hillsborough will be diverted between Wadsley and Hillsborough and will run along Wadsley Lane, Leppings Lane, Catch Bar Lane, Parkside Road, Penistone Road, Owlerton Green, Bradfield Road and Langsett Road.

  • Supertram Rail Replacement - Area One Works

    The tram rail replacement project continues in 2019, with work scheduled for sections track that were initially laid in the early 1990’s. The first area of work will take place at Hillsborough Corner and along Middlewood Road towards Hillsborough Park.

    Area One - Hillsborough Corner and Middlewood Road - Friday 19 April to Sunday 2 June 2019

    Yellow route services will continue to run between Meadowhall and Hillsborough but with a change in frequency to normal. Amended timetables can be found here. Replacement buses will operate between Hillsborough and Middlewood.

    Blue route services will continue to run between Halfway and Hillsborough with a change in frequency to normal. Amended timetables can be found here. Replacement buses will operate between Hillsborough and Malin Bridge.

    Purple Route and Tram Train Route services will not be affected and will operate as normal during this time.

    What replacement buses will operate?

    Friday 19 April – Monday 22 April 2019
    Over the Easter weekend, the replacement Y1 service will operate a clockwise loop between Middlewood and Malin bridge to minimise disruption to passengers as Middlewood, Leppings Lane, Hillsborough Park and Malin Bridge tram stops will be closed. This will be a circular route between Middlewood and Malin Bridge via Holme Lane.

    Tuesday 23 April – Sunday 26 May 2019
    B1 shuttle bus service will operate between Malin Bridge and Hillsborough Interchange
    Y1 replacement bus services will operate from Hillsborough Interchange to Middlewood via Middlewood Road. From Middlewood the Y1 service will run via Catch Bar Lane and Penistone Road due to traffic restrictions.

    Monday 27 May – Sunday 2 June 2019
    B1 shuttle bus service will operate between Malin Bridge and Hillsborough Interchange
    Y1 replacement bus services will operate from Hillsborough Interchange to Middlewood along Middlewood Road, Wadsley Lane, Worrall Road, Mowson Lane and Stockarth Lane. From Middlewood, the Y1 will run via Catch Bar Lane and Penistone Road due to traffic restrictions.

    Park and Ride

    Malin Bridge and Middlewood Park and Ride sites will remain open during these works. Park and Ride will be free whilst these essential works take place. Customers will just need to buy their ticket for travel on board.

    Armthorpe Lane in Kirk Sandall will be temporarily closed to traffic for the railway bridge to be replaced from Tuesday 8 January 2018 for approximately six months.

    Services 84, 84a and 84b will be diverted between Wheatley (Barnby Dun Road) and Barnby Dun and will run along Doncaster Road, Graham Road, Church Road, Brecks Lane, Doncaster Road and Station Road.

    Note that buses will run along Brecks Lane (between Church Road and Doncaster Road) in the opposite direction to normal. Buses travelling towards Doncaster will run towards Church Road; buses travelling towards Barnby Dun will run towards Doncaster Road.

    Brampton Road in Brampton Bierlow will be temporarily closed to traffic between Packman Road and Pontefract Road from 0930 on Tuesday 23 April to 1530 on Friday 26 April 2019 (0930 to 1530 each day) for road resurfacing.

    Buses on service 22x will be diverted and will not be able to serve the bus stops on Brampton Road.

    Buses will run along Brampton Road, Christchurch Road, Masefield Road, Edward Road, Grove Road, Barnsley Road, Pontefract Road and Knollbeck Lane.

    Services 51a, 405, 408, 409 and X45 will be diverted and will not be able to serve the bus stops on Campsall Road or Church Field Road.

    Services 51a, 408, and 409 will run along Selby Road, Norton Common Road, Station Road, High Street, West End Road and Ryecroft Road.

    Services 405, and X45 will run along Doncaster Road, Sutton Road (Instoneville), Main Road, Suttonfield Road, High Street and The Avenue.

    Service 268 towards Wharncliffe Side to operate as normal to Bedford Road at the junction of Cockshutts Lane then divert left onto Cockshutts Lane, Langsett Road North and Main Road before resuming normal route at the junction of Green Lane.

    Service 268 towards Hillsborough to operate as normal to Main Road at the junction of Green Lane then divert via Main Road, Langsett Road North and Cockshutts Lane before resuming normal route on Bedford Road.

    Services 136 and 137 towards Rotherham to operate as normal to Masbrough Street at the junction of Centenary Way then divert via Centenary Way, College Road Roundabout, College Road and Bridge Street before terminating at Rotherham Interchange.

    Services from Rotherham will be unaffected and should operate as normal.

    Services 405, 412 and X8 will be diverted in Askern and will be unable to serve the bus stops on Rushy Moor Lane, Norbreck Road or Newmarche Drive. Buses will run along Moss Road, Coniston Road, Eden Drive and Moss Road.

    Services 73, 74 and X54 towards Sheffield to operate as normal to Orgreave Road at the junction of Sheffield Lane then divert via Orgreave Road and Poplar Way before resuming normal route at the junction of Sheffield Lane.

    Services to Brinsworth, Rotherham and Harthill will be unaffected and should operate as normal.
