Tim wins Youth Voice Champion award

We’re delighted to announce that Tim, our Director of Customer Services has won the ‘Youth Voice Champion’ at this year's Youth Voice Star Awards.

Members of local youth councils nominated him for his commitment to improving the experience of young people on public transport in South Yorkshire, you can read more about the Youth Voice Awards on the British Youth Council website.

Tim chairs regular South Yorkshire Youth Transport User Group meetings, where members of the Youth Council are invited to share their views and challenge us on our services, plans and projects for South Yorkshire’s transport network.

In the nomination, the youth councillors acknowledge Tim for making sure these meetings are young people-friendly and that he is always open to ideas from the group, before feeding back to our partners and acting on any recommendations made by them. Tim has also been working with the Youth Council on developing a Youth Transport Charter which will be launched in the next few weeks.

Speaking about his nomination, Tim said: “I am delighted to have been shortlisted for this this award. I’m extremely proud that South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’s commitment to improving public transport for young people has been recognised. Here at SYPTE, one of our promises is to listen to what passengers have to say so that we can take their feedback on board and work hard to improve their public transport experience. It is particularly important that we listen to young people too as they are the future of public transport, and we need to make sure we keep them on board and out of the car”.
